After seven glorious weeks of lazy days, happy children (and parents!) and fun-filled trips our children are now back to school. It’s lovely to see the children rush to see their friends in the playground and eagerly file into school for another year of learning and fun.
It seems to me that right now, in August, when the new school year is starting and everyone is putting holidays behind them and getting on with new projects and work, is a good time to plan for the future. Historically we would have been canning and preserving to prepare for the long cold months of winter and although there’s never a *bad* time for jam, the plans I’m talking about are more about personal growth and development.
It’s always nice to learn something new and to develop your existing skills and I’m intending to do just that. As an art form, sewing has many facets. The bunting made at Badger Belle combines hand stitching and machine sewing to produce each unique item. As well as personalising our bunting with a name or a message, I’d like to expand our offering to include more decorative touches – buttons, embroidery and other embellishments. To that end, I’ll be working on a number of new hand-stitching methods that will gradually start to appear as optional extras on our bunting.
So while I gather my needle and thread, I’d like to wish everyone good luck with any new studies they’re embarking on, be it a craft, a language class or even a whole new profession.
